Welcome to Highline Tours and Travel’s June 2021, Newsletter.

“And I dream of the vast deserts, the forests, and all of the wilderness of our continent, wild places that we should protect as a precious heritage for our children and for our children’s children. We must never forget that it is our duty to protect this environment.”
— Nelson Mandela.
#GENERATIONRESTORATION

2021 is the year to witness the Great Migration through Tanzania and Kenya.
Do not miss a great opportunity to watch this annual, natural spectacle!

Huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope move through the Serengeti and Masai Mara in search of water and grazing. The animals move clockwise, through the Serengeti, following the rains for the lushest of grass. Their trip is charged with danger as many predators such as lions, cheetahs, and crocodiles prey on the migrating animals.

The optimal time to view the migration is between July-October, when the wildebeest are normally in the northern Serengeti plains, giving you a chance of seeing thousands of wildebeest dramatically crossing the great Mara River.

Why is 2021 the year to go and see the Great Migration? Low tourist levels, as a result of COVID, mean healthier ecosystems, exclusive sightings and there is still lodge availability!

New Travel Regulations For Namibia

With effect from 01 June 2021, all travellers entering Namibia will need to produce a negative SARS COVID-19 PCR test result (valid for seven days from the date of collection). Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Test results will no longer be accepted for entry into Namibia at ports of entry.

Travellers must also present a negative test result certificate at check-in for flights to Namibia. Children younger than five years are exempt from this requirement. Travellers also have to complete a Travel Health Questionnaire and present it on arrival, where they will also be screened.

Get Ready, Whale-Watching Season Is Here!

South Africa’s waters come alive with marine activity between June-November each year, the perfect time to book a whale-watching trip!

The warm Indian Ocean waters attract large numbers of Southern Right and Humpback whales, that settle here after their annual migration from Antarctica. The wide, sheltered bays of the Western Cape coastline provide the perfect breeding ground for the whales to mate, calve and nurse their young before they head up to the warmer waters of the east coast.

Catch a glimpse of whales frolicking in the bays, enormous pods of dolphins, and Great White sharks breaching as they feed. Contact us to plan your whale-watching trip!

Inspiring Our Tourism Future!

In celebration of Youth Month, Cape Town Tourism held a 2-day Tourism Career Workshop for the Grade 9 & 10 learners from Thembelihle School. The school is introducing Tourism as a subject from 2022, so this was the ideal opportunity to show what the Tourism industry is about, discuss career opportunities and inspire the students to work towards a Tourism career.

Jo, from Highline, was thrilled to participate in the workshop which attracted over 250 learners! Jo gave insight into how Highline Tours & Travel operates in the tourism industry and her day-to-day role.
